  • Don’t login with auto sign-in (using Facebook, Google, etc accounts) to any third party apps or websites.
  • If you have to require a mandatory sign-in to any third party account, then create a new fresh account with email address or mobile number, but use a different and complex strong password for this account (Example: CoviD-2019?=@).
  • Remember: Don't set easy passwords like your name, phone number. Use multiple & different passwords for each online account. Don't use the same password for Gmail, Facebook, Twitter etc.
  • Don’t share a meeting/conference id and password or other confidential information to the public view & most importantly don’t post in WhatsApp status, etc, because it can allow unauthorized access.
  • When accessing a web portal/web app for a conference or other purpose using an internet browser. Make sure your internet browser like- Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari, etc  previous browsing history is completely cleared, or use incognito/private mode in your web browser.

Frequently Asked Question and Answer:
Which App is safe for e-learning from home?
Depends on requirement, As of my recommendation hosts/institutes/teachers have to use premium conferencing App like ‘Adobe Connect’. It only changed for hosts not for other users.
Remember: Don’t forget basic Cyber security awareness & safety tips. Be safe.

Keynote:
Why Video conferencing features should be excluding is important: Large number of users can join e-learning conference, active users can see other members live video, chances to misuse live footage, and many more information. In one word Privacy can be compromised.

So, moral of the story for this topic: No one App is perfect. Most Apps can store user location, contact, phone identity, etc.

The Digital Age: How Vulnerable Are We to Cybercrime?

In recent years, India has seen a significant increase in cybercrime activities due to the rapid growth of internet penetration. With the launch of Reliance Jio in 2016, the cost of mobile internet plummeted, making it more accessible to the masses. While this has led to a surge in the number of smartphone users, it has also resulted in a rise in hacking incidents. Before Jio's launch, mobile internet charges were quite high, with 1GB 2G data costing Rs.98/-* and 1GB 3G data pack costing Rs.155/-*. However, in 2023, 1GB 4G data now costs just Rs.2/-*. This has made smartphones and internet usage more affordable for everyone, but unfortunately, many users lack basic knowledge about the good and bad effects of the internet and how to stay safe online. While some efforts have been made to raise awareness about cybercrime in India, they have not been effective enough. Schools and public awareness campaigns are organized only once or twice a year in certain areas, and legal authorit...
