Current Affairs: Corona Virus outbreak 'COVID-19' 'lockdown' is still on in India.
- This time since March 2020 to till date 'cyber crime' is increasing in every minutes. Huge traffic and actively use internet during this pandemic situation, maximum users are properly not aware about internet safety and basic awareness.
Based on my research:
- Approx '24 crore' rupees in all over India, unreported financial frauds, scams already executed during lock-down March to 24 April 2020, and non-countable user data including confidential documents, online accounts (including social networking, email) also compromised.
- Cyber bullying, cyber threats, black mailing, etc criminal activity also running as always, but this time is too much increase this cases.
- Most cases users (victims) are not reporting cyber crime activity to legal authorities.
- Data leak and social accounts and email address compromised case details maximum cases not report, they are thinking we can create another one account, don't care about existing data because of they are not care about data misuse and data leak, actually the fact is they are not aware basic fundamental, that the reason.
- School, College etc e-learning students most cases they are targeted by unknowing sources. Because of video conference screenshots and group photo share on public view. Strangers can easily identify the target. Comments and reaction also monitored.
- Financial fraud cases: Too many technique they are used. Some example points mention below:
- Strangers easily find and focus on who are posted COVID-19 related donation transaction screenshots, then they are use a trap and victims has involved.
- EMI waiver.
- Online KYC.
- Bank loan, credit card loan wavier.
- Relief money for unemployed.
- Govt pay your salary.
- RBI gives you loan online as per recently announced package.
- GST return claim, One year payment amount is advance pay by Govt to your bank account.
- Free recharge.
- Mobile Tower Installation.
- Online Job.
Awareness:
- Always Question Yourself.
- Think before you post.
- Avoid WhatsApp group member: Make sure all members you know them personally. If not then must exit from this type of WhatsApp group.
- Think before you click on any link.
- Don't share group photo without all persons permission.
- Don't accept friend request from unknown person.
- Don't accept photo upload challenges from relative/friends/known/unknown person.
- Don't post real-time location, and don't tag current location with post.
- Always cross check online account activity.
- Think before you comments and reaction on public view posts.
- Use strong complex password for each online account.
- Report immediate if faced unethical activity online.
